Diagnostic Ultrasound

Diagnostic Ultrasound

Diagnostic ultrasound is an imaging method that uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. The images can help in the diagnosis of specific painful conditions. Whereas x-ray imaging shows great detail of the bone, diagnostic ultrasound shows great detail of the soft tissues, including muscles, tendons and ligaments. Diagnostic ultrasound is performed in our office by an experienced musculoskeletal ultrasound technician.

Our ultrasound unit also aids in injections performed in the office. Many injections are performed under ultrasound guidance to insure the safety of the injection as well as to confirm appropriate placement of the medication.
